On June 25, Embassy staff donated over 200 high quality books by American authors translated into Spanish under the U.S. Embassy program, “Estados Unidos y Bolivia, unidos en la lectura.” The goal of this program is to encourage reading and improve the quality of education for children and adolescents in the Barrio Lindo neighborhood in Sucre city. The recently inaugurated library is actively supported by the local leaders. Leaders of the community board of residents and youth gathered at the donation ceremony. The President of the Board highlighted words of thanks from neighbors and the representative from the Major’s office was also present in the ceremony. Students enthusiastically crowded the books after the event to leaf through the pages.
