Debra Hevia is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister Counselor. She was most recently the Deputy Chief of Mission in Quito, Ecuador. Prior to that assignment, she served as Director of the Mid-Level Division in the Office of Career Development and Assignments of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Global Talent Management.
She previously served as Political Counselor in Bucharest, Romania. Other postings include Bolivia, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Panama, Slovakia, the Office of Central American Affairs, and the U.S. State Department’s Operations Center.
Chargé Hevia was raised in upstate New York and earned a B.A. in International Studies from American University in Washington, DC. She speaks Spanish, Romanian, Slovak, and Dutch.
Her hobbies include hiking, yoga, and reading.
