Earth Day Activities

The United States Embassy in La Paz commemorated World Earth Day with a bicycle ride from Ancoraimes to Carabuco on the Bolivian high plateau.

In the two communities visited by cyclists and support staff, Chargé d’Affaires Peter Brennan delivered book donations for local schools, as well as sports equipment for children, and 200 cypress trees to forest the villages. The Chargé talked about the importance of  people to people relations, especially “on an issue as important as the environment for all of us.” “We hope that with this small contribution that we are bringing today, we not only help build ties between the people of our countries, but also to take care of our environment.”

On the tour of the picturesque landscape of the “Sleeping Dragon”, a joint cleaning of the shores of Lake Titicaca was carried out with the community members of the region.
