The Consular Agency is available Monday and Tuesday from 08:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., except U.S. and Bolivian holidays.
In order to provide more effective customer service, the U.S. Consular Agency in Santa Cruz has an appointment system for all non-emergency services, including passport renewals, birth registrations, notarial services, federal benefits and general inquiries. We ask that you make an appointment before your visit. Our system allows you to plan your visit in advance, ensures shorter wait times, and allows more efficient handling of individual cases. Only customers with appointments will be admitted into the Consular Agency for all non-emergency matters.
When scheduling an appointment, please keep the following in mind:
- Check the menu on the left for requirements and information on how to schedule an appointment for each type of service.
- If you have already scheduled an appointment, you may cancel your appointment by clicking here or by sending an email to ConsularSantaCruz@state.gov. If you must cancel, we ask that you do so at least 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled appointment. There is no charge for making or canceling an appointment.
- Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment. The scheduled appointment will be cancelled automatically for anyone arriving 30 minutes late. You will be required to schedule a new appointment via our website.
- Be sure to print the confirmation screen and bring the page with you to your appointment.

Emergency American Citizens Services
If you are a U.S. citizen with a life or death emergency, please call during regular business hours  (591-3) 351-3477 or 351-3479. An embassy duty officer is available for after hour emergencies at  (591-2) 216-8500.
Non-Emergency American Citizens Services General Inquiries

Please note that Consular Agency staff does not answer visa-related inquiries neither by phone nor by appointment. Any question regarding visa matters should be directed either to the Non-Immigrant Visa unit by sending an e-mail ConsularLaPazNIV@state.gov or to the Immigrant Visa unit atConsularLaPazIV@state.gov.
