New Chargé d'Affaires Debra Hevia Arrives in Bolivia

The United States Embassy in La Paz is pleased to announce the arrival of new Chargé d’Affaires to Bolivia Debra Hevia.  Chargé Hevia arrives with the goals of strengthening bilateral relations, promoting shared democratic values, and expanding commercial, educational, and cultural ties between the United States and Bolivia.

Chargé Hevia has extensive experience in Latin America and in Bolivia in particular, where she completed two diplomatic missions in recent years.  Her most recent assignment was Deputy Chief of Mission in Quito, Ecuador.  She previously worked as political counselor in Bucharest, Romania.

During her diplomatic career, she also served in the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Panama, Slovakia, the Office of Central American Affairs, and the U.S. State Department’s Operations Center.

Chargé Hevia is a career diplomat with the rank of Minister Counselor.  She grew up in the state of New York and earned a B.A. in International Studies from American University in Washington, D.C.  She speaks Spanish, Romanian, Slovak, and Dutch.  Her hobbies include hiking, yoga, and reading.
