The U.S. Embassy in La Paz has resumed all routine U.S. citizen services.
If you are planning to renew your passport, please visit our website to determine if you qualify to renew your passport by mail (FedEx).
If you are applying for a passport, please use the online application form. Using the online form will expedite the application process.
U.S. citizens who require emergency passport services but do not find available appointment slots in the American Citizens Services appointment system, should contact the Consular Section via email: ConsularLaPazACS@state.gov. Please include the details of your emergency and your contact telephone number in Bolivia.
All U.S. citizens, including dual nationals, must enter the United States on a U.S. passport. Only the U.S. Department of State has the authority to grant, issue, or verify U.S. passports.
The American Citizens Services unit has an appointment system for all routine services, including passport renewals. We ask that you make an appointment before your visit. Please note that as per Embassy security regulation, all persons who wish to appear at the appointment must register their names in the appointment system in order to be admitted into the embassy/consular agency. If an application will be submitted on behalf of a minor child, both the child and the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) will all need to have appointments in order to enter the Embassy/Consular Agency.
