Round Table on Integral Tourism: La Paz Woos You
September 28, 2016 — On Thursday, September 29, at 15:00, a round table entitled “Fall in Love with La Paz: A Holistic Approach to Tourism” will be held in the auditorium of the Chamber of Commerce in La Paz. The invited speakers are Terestella Gonzales, Dean of the School of Tourism at Universidad del Este Jose A. Tony Santana, Puerto Rico; José Hidalgo, Dean of the Tourism Department of UMSA University; René Mariaca, Dean of the School of Tourism at the Bolivian Catholic University; and Simona Piras, architect and expert in cultural and tourism at the Bolivian Ministry of Culture and Tourism Technical Assistance Program.
During her visit to Bolivia, sponsored by the Embassy of the United States, Terestella Gonzales will lead three workshops for tourism operators on the topics of Tourism As An Economic Engine; Hospitality at A Tourist Destination; and Tourism Sales and Marketing. The workshops are cosponsored by the La Paz Autonomous Municipal Government, the Municipal Tourism Development Agency, and the La Paz Cómo Vamos observatory. Gonzales will also lead workshops in Sucre and Santa Cruz.
Terestella González has a broad and deep knowledge in tourism as an instrument for economic development, both in the public and private sectors. From 1997 to 2000 she was the Director of Tourism of the City of San Juan and from 2005 to 2008 she was Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC).
Gonzales is a consultant on Tourism Development and Planning at local and international levels. Among her many international awards, in 2007 she received the prestigious Travel Weekly Magazine Award and was named one of the 33 most influential people in the travel and tourism industry worldwide. She was the only Hispanic specialist on the list.
