U.S. Citizen Services

The American Citizens Services (ACS) Unit of the Consular Section provides a wide range of services to U.S. citizens visiting or residing in Bolivia.

So we can better serve you, we encourage you to enroll with the Embassy through the State Department website if you will be traveling or living in Bolivia. In case of emergency, call [011](591-2) 216-8000, from Monday to Thursday from 8am to 5:30pm and Friday from 8am to 12pm, or [011](591-2) 216-8000 after hours.

Individuals who require any non-emergency service, including passport renewals, birth registrations, notarial services, federal benefits and general inquiries, must first make an appointment before coming to the Embassy or to any of the Consular Agencies.  Only customers with appointments will be admitted into the Consular Section or Agencies for all non-emergency matters.

The U.S. Embassy in La Paz has temporarily suspended routine U.S. citizen services due to the resurgence in COVID-19 cases in the country and the resulting impact on the health care system. U.S. citizens who require emergency consular services should contact the Consular Section via email: ConsularLaPazACS@state.gov. Please monitor the Embassy website for information concerning the resumption of consular services.
