U.S. Embassy La Paz, One World Futbol Project and Chevrolet to Distribute 5,500 Ultra-Durable Soccer Balls throughout Bolivia

La Paz, Bolivia — October 27, 2014. The U.S. Embassy in La Paz announced today it is working with One World Futbol Project to deliver 5,500 Chevrolet-sponsored One World Futbols to 13 Bolivian non-profit organizations working with youth. The ultra-durable One World Futbol never needs a pump and never deflates–even when punctured multiple times– making it ideal for play in all types of terrain and harsh environments.

The One World Futbols will be distributed to 13 nonprofit organizations in the cities of La Paz, El Alto, Santa Cruz and the Yungas region. The beneficiaries include community centers in low-income communities and soccer schools that reach out to a diverse Bolivian youth population. The balls will be used in soccer clinics and afterschool programs that benefit atrisk Bolivian youth.

U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Peter Brennan stated that, “The United States values sports not only as a form of recreation and entertainment, but also as a tool/means to teach important values and life skills such as respect, teamwork, inclusion, acknowledgement of rules, discipline, and self-confidence.”

One World Futbol Project brings the transformative power of play to youth worldwide by making, selling and distributing the One World Futbol, an ultra-durable ball that never needs a pump, never goes flat, and is designed to survive the harshest environments. Collaborating with sponsors, organizations and individuals, One World Futbol Project delivers balls to disadvantaged communities where play and sport are used to foster social change.

In May 2012, Chevrolet became the founding sponsor of One World Futbol Project. The U.S. Embassy’s ball donation is part of Chevrolet’s three-year partnership with One World Futbol Project that pledges to place 1.5 million One World Futbols with youth in war-stricken zones, refugee camps, disaster areas, and other underprivileged communities around the world. In September 2014, Chevrolet and One World Futbol Project reached a global milestone with the delivery of the 1 millionth Chevrolet-sponsored One World Futbol.

To date, the One World Futbol has reached more than 170 countries through One World Futbol Project’s growing global network of organizations, bringing the healing power of play to an estimated 30 million youth worldwide.
