The U.S. Embassy in La Paz informs U.S. citizens that demonstrations are expected to take place at Avenida Arce, in front of the Ministry of Education beginning at 09:00 on July 26, 2017. Students of Saint Paul University are protesting against the possible closure of the university. Protestors are currently gathered at the front gate of the ministry waiting to meet with the Minister. Heavy traffic is expected in the surrounding area.

Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
